At a glance
- We use three categories of cookies: strictly necessary (for the site to work), analytics (to understand aggregate usage), and ad measurement (to see whether our Facebook and Instagram ads work).
- Ad measurement uses the Meta Pixel. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it only loads after you press Accept. Elsewhere it loads unless you press Reject. Reject always turns it off.
- We never sell your data, and nothing from your gifts (messages, photos, voice notes) is sent to Meta.
- You can disable non-essential cookies at any time through your browser. The site will still work.
Categories we use
GiftFeels groups cookies into three plain-English buckets:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function. These cannot be disabled without breaking core behavior (e.g. keeping your progress while building a gift). Legally, these don't require consent.
- Analytics — help us understand aggregated, de-identified usage so we can improve the product. We only set these after you give consent via the cookie banner.
- Ad measurement — the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta when someone who saw our ads visits, starts a gift or pays, so the ads can be measured and improved. See Ad measurement for when it loads.
We do not use fingerprinting, and we run no advertising tags other than the Meta Pixel.
Full cookie & storage list
This is every first-party cookie or browser-storage key GiftFeels may set. Third-party cookies are listed in the next section.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
gf_session | Keeps you signed in (if you've signed in for Paid Features) and preserves security tokens. | Strictly necessary | Session |
gf_cookie_consent | Remembers your response to the cookie banner so we don't ask again every visit. | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
gf_draft_* (localStorage) | Auto-saves your in-progress gift so you don't lose your work if the tab closes or reloads. | Strictly necessary | 30 days or until you publish the gift |
gf_theme | Remembers your theme preference. | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
_ga, _ga_* | Aggregate usage analytics (only set after you consent in regions that require it). | Analytics | Up to 13 months |
gf_cc | Your country (two letters, from your connection, nothing else) so we show prices in your currency and know whether to ask before loading the Meta Pixel. | Strictly necessary | 30 days |
_fbp, _fbc | Set by the Meta Pixel: a browser identifier, and the ad click id when you arrive from a Facebook or Instagram ad. | Ad measurement | 90 days |
gf_mp_* (local/sessionStorage) | Remembers which ad-measurement events this browser already sent, so a reload is not counted twice. | Ad measurement | Session, or until you clear site data |
Third-party cookies
Some embedded services may set their own cookies under their own policies. We only load these when necessary for the feature you're using:
- Payment processors (e.g. Stripe, Razorpay) — only loaded on the checkout flow for Paid Features. Used for fraud prevention and payment security.
- Analytics provider (Google Analytics) — sets cookies only if you consent in the cookie banner. Until you do, or if you decline, it runs in Google's consent mode: no cookies, only anonymous signals (such as a page view, with no identifier) that let it estimate overall traffic. We configure the provider to anonymize IP addresses where possible.
- Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel) — measures our Facebook and Instagram ads. See Ad measurement.
These third parties act as independent data controllers under their own policies. Please review their privacy notices for details.
Analytics and aggregate tracking
We use analytics to see which pages are popular, which templates are used most, and where users drop off — so we can fix broken flows and build features people actually want. We look at aggregate data, not individual user behavior.
We never combine analytics data with your gift content, and we never sell it.
Ad measurement (Meta Pixel)
We advertise GiftFeels on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Pixel is a small script from Meta that tells Meta when a visitor views a gift template, starts making a gift, opens the payment screen, or pays (with the price and currency). Meta uses this to report how our ads perform and to show them to people more likely to be interested. Meta may link these events to your Facebook or Instagram account under Meta's Privacy Policy.
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland (or when we can't tell where you are): the pixel loads only after you press Accept.
- Everywhere else: it loads by default, and pressing Reject turns it off.
- Never on gifts you receive. Private gift links don't load the pixel, and gift content (messages, photos, voice notes, names) is never sent to Meta.
- A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser turns it off too.
You can also manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings under "Ad preferences".
How to control cookies
You have multiple ways to control cookies:
- Cookie banner — lets you accept or reject analytics and ad-measurement cookies. You can change your choice at any time here:
- Browser settings — every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. Instructions:
- Device-level controls — most phones and tablets offer privacy settings to limit tracking system-wide.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site (for example, saving a draft gift).
Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of sale/sharing where required by California's CCPA/CPRA; with GPC on, the Meta Pixel does not load. The older "Do Not Track" header is not a widely-supported standard, so we don't rely on it alone; please also use our cookie banner to express preferences.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if our tracking practices change or as new regulations come into effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the latest version was published. For material changes, we'll re-prompt for consent in regions where it's required.
